Currency Notes - Dated Prior To 2005

Reserve Bank of India issued a guideline saying that pre-2005 notes will be withdrawn from circulation. The last date was to be 31st March 2014. The deadline has now been extended to 1st January 2015.

We cannot use the notes prior to 2005 but can get them exchanged at our banks. This process is to be hassle free. For transaction over Rs.50,000 a PAN card is required.

The printing date on the currency notes can be found at the back of the note at the bottom, somewhere in the middle.

The attempt to curb black money in the economy is noteworthy. Let us encourage this and get our notes exchanged.
